LIVING IN EDINBURGH

By far one of the greatest experiences of my life is living a year aboard with the love of my life. It was a dream of mine that I thought wouldn't ever come true. Not only was this a highlight of my year but of my life. I learned so much and met so many wonderful people who impacted my life. I miss Edinburgh, every single day and I can say with all certainty that we made each day count while we were there.
COVER OF ION MAGAZINE
I was so honored to be on the cover of ION magazine which is Scotland's number one lifestyle magazine. This picture is a behind the scene look for the February cover of the magazine.
GOING TO BARCELONA AND VISITING FAMILY
I was so happy to visit my cousins in Barcelona and exploring Spain. It is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to go back and see more of the country and eat even more paella.

VISITING PARIS
What can I say about Paris that hasn't already been said. It was a dream come true to go and play the role of tourist very well. Our visit was short and sweet but it was such a highlight of my year.

CELEBRATING 3 YEARS OF MARRIAGE IN CROATIA
Chase and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary in Croatia this year and it was amazing. I wrote a full review of our trip HERE if you want to read more about the city of Dubrovnik. I can't recommend Croatia enough if you are wanting to completely relax and enjoy the sun. To be honest Croatia was never on my list but Chase ALWAYS mentioned wanting to visit because he played water polo in high school and Croatia is known for their water polo. It made me incredibly happy to check something off his bucket list. While we were in Croatia we also took a trip out to Bosnia which was unexpected but turned out to be a fun part of the trip.
ROAD TRIP THROUGH THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
If you don't go to the highlands, did you really go to Scotland? Chase and I counted down the days until we could go on the road and see Scotland properly. The highlands are the northern part of Scotland and are breathtaking. Although Scotland isn't the biggest country, you drive and feel such openness and as if the roads near come to an end. We drove through the whole country and saw countless castle's, Cows, and historic sites.
CHASE GRADUATES FROM EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY WITH HIS MASTER'S DEGREE
We headed to Europe in 2016 for Chase to get his Mater's degree at the University of Edinburgh. I am so proud of him and everything he has accomplished in his life. The way he puts things into motion is so impressive and motivates me to reach for my goals.
VISITING UTAH
Utah is one of the most beautiful States in America and I have such tender memories of my time there. I went to Utah to visit family and friends and have a recharge. I also secretly went for cafe rio!
CELEBRATING MY 25TH BIRTHDAY IN DISNEY WORLD
I turned 25 and it was in the best way possible. I wanted to do something special for 25 so we drove to Orlando and stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek and went to all the parks. We had such a great time in Orlando and it's a birthday I'll always remember. You can read all about our trip HERE
GROWING HOW DOES JOAN DO IT
From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you for following along as How does Joan do it grows into a magnification of who I am as a creative individual. This year was the first year I truly dedicated time and consistent energy to this creative space and the progress has really paid off. I am lucky enough to have this space to share my thoughts and use as a creative outlet. At the end of it all I want to share who I am in hopes of inspiring you- to travel, to help, to read, to eat, to love and dress your best in what feels comfortable.
