Hey everyone,
Sorry I've been M.I.A. for a little bit. Chase and I just got back from Paris yesterday, unfortunately the WIFI situation in Paris wasn't the best, so I couldn't really post. But I am so excited to share some more photos from our trip to Barcelona. I wore this outfit to explore the city and we had just about the best day.
We started out our day by having a traditional breakfast of delicious churros con chocolate in the park with our cousins. It was so nice to have breakfast outside in the morning sun. Afterwords, we took the train from Rubí into the city and eventually found ourselves on top of Montjuïc. We saw the beautiful views of the city from the museum of Art of Catalunya, an absolutely gorgeous building. We started walking and found the Olympic stadium, which was awesome to see for the 25th anniversary.
We planned to take the funicular up to the Montjuïc Castle, but before that we entered the Botanical gardens (which are free, and if you can I would check it out just to see a lesser known area of the city, only a little ways from more touristy spots).
We were starving at this point so we made our way uphill to find a restaurant I read about, called Martinez. It turns out the restaurant is located in the area of Miramar which overlooks the port of Barcelona. Once we got to the restaurant we were turned away because they were fully booked for the rest of the day. A gentlemen even told us he had to make reservations five days in advance. I had no idea it was so popular, but there was a restaurant near by with gorgeous views of the port as well, called Miramar restaurant. To be completely honest, I felt like we mostly paid for the views. The food was mediocre and over priced, but it was warm out and just about perfect, so it was enjoyable to eat outside with the great views of the city. We decided stay in the area for food, but I would recommend to eat elsewhere.
We walked to the teleférico which was my very first time on one. If you aren't afraid of heights I would totally do this. You can get a roundtrip ticket to go to the Montjuïc castle (try to use a coupon). Unfortunately, we decided not to go into the castle because of time constraints, but the grounds were beautiful and massive. We even saw people practicing archery outside of the castle. Since the castle is located in a remote area and there isn't anything around, be sure to get round trip tickets on the teleférico. However, the views of the Mediterranean sea, were breathtaking!
We finished our day by taking the metro back into the city and just walked around the famous Gothic area of Barcelona while eating some delicious ice cream. The cathedral of Barcelona was very beautiful and really interesting. It was so fun just walking around the whole city while the sun was setting.
We had a great day exploring the famous city of Barcelona. I'll be doing a roundup of our entire trip soon so stay tune.
All the love,
Joan
