3 TIPS TO PICK OUT A WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT
Dress: ASOS // SHOES
Hey everyone,
First I just want to mention how warm today was in Edinburgh. A beautiful 69 degrees and I couldn't be happier about it. It is no secret I crave the warmth like no other, I can be in complete heat for the rest of my life and be totally okay with that.
I wanted to discuss the topic of "WHAT TO WEAR" to a special occasion event. Most of the questions I get are style questions. Which btw I love, one of my favorite things to do is help other people figure out their outfits. Since wedding season is around the corner I thought it would be great to show you something I would personally wear and give you some options of whats in the market at the moment.
There are 3 things to consider when you are looking for a new dress for a special event like a wedding.
1. What type of event is it?
Right off the bat, figure out if its a formal or casual event, is it outside or inside etc. All of these factors will contribute to your final decisions. Not only your dress but your shoes, makeup, jewelry etc. For instance, if the wedding was at the beach I would wear something light and perhaps a nice flat or sandal. If the wedding was during winter I would wear stocking with my dress if it was short so I could be warmer.
2. Do you see yourself wearing the outfit again?
Formal wear can get pretty pricy, you don't want to invest so much money and never wear it again so be realistic about it. I know sometimes we want to make a statement but that statement dress you just bought might not looking so good in seven years sitting pretty in your closet.
3. Figure out the wedding colors
I once showed up to a wedding wearing the same shade as the bridesmaids... Since the bridesmaids were able to pick their own dress, I totally looked like I was one of them. I quickly went home and changed for the reception. It wasn't a huge deal but I didn't feel comfortable so I wish I would have asked before head what the colors of the wedding were. Some brides are super private about all the wedding details. If this is the case, you have options. I would say wear a print because usually bridesmaids will wear a solid color or wear the color black. Unless its a really formal event black bridesmaid dresses aren't typically a thing, so rock your LBD!
